The Albanese government's proposed indigenous Voice in the Australian Constitution is the wrong way to recognise Aboriginal people. Poverty, disadvantage and despair is not caused by lack of a voice. It’s caused by lack of economic participation. Recognising a better way means recognising economic participation is the only way to close the gap and that every government policy and initiative should be obsessively focussed on these outcomes.
