  • WA Labor admits record migration is reducing your living standards

WA Labor Premier Roger Cook has finally admitted what One Nation has been pointing out for some time - record migration to WA is reducing your standard of living.

The West Australian newspaper reported the Labor Government accepts that the 79,000 people who arrived in WA in 2023 had placed pressure on housing, health services and education.

We have a situation in WA where kids and adults have to wait months to get important medical treatment, where we have schools that are desperately understaffed and bursting at the seams, no housing availability and rampant cost of living pressures.

Basic economic theory informs us that when demand outweighs supply, you will get shortages, which will inevitably lead to inflation. So it should be no surprise that having more people to house, educate and keep healthy will require more resources, otherwise standards will drop.

However due to the aggressive and mismanaged budget cuts of Mark McGowan from 2017 to 2020, our services were heavily degraded, and then from 2020 onwards hysterical Covid policies made things even worse in terms of keeping up with investment for the future.

The WA Labor Government is claiming it is now investing heavily to restore health, housing and education, but everyone should understand that this is actually an admission that they have mismanaged our state for almost 8 years. It is obvious that the only reason they have to invest so much now, is because they did not invest well in the past 8 years, otherwise we would not be in this situation. But instead of investing in health, housing and education, WA Labor squandered our wealth on train lines and RAT kits.

One Nation WA has consistently pointed out that we need to manage migration better, we need to be able to look after the people who are here now before we can invite more people to join us. We need to have a responsible voice in parliament to hold the major parties to account.

  • Free tickets to see animals with housing and reliable health care

The Cook(ed) Labor Government is giving away free tickets to the Perth Zoo, in a desperate attempt to distract voters from the dire state of affairs in Western Australia.

The Premier posed with a Kangaroo and a Minister to proclaim the free Zoo tickets would reduce the cost of living, hoping that Western Australians would rejoice and forget all of the other problems in this state.

But the Labor PR team seem to not have thought this one through, as Perth families might note that the animals at Perth Zoo are treated very well, with appropriate housing being available to them as a guarantee.

Western Australians will be able to see animals who have reliable timely access to quality health care.

People might note that the Zoo would never let in more animals if there was not enough space for them and if it did not have enough resources available to provide healthcare to them.

Then as they head home from a lovely day at the zoo looking at well cared for animals, they will sit in traffic jams, thinking about how they have to wait months and sometimes years for basic healthcare, how they have to worry about keeping a roof over their heads due to the housing crisis.

Then they might realise that with responsible management, appropriate resourcing and correct policies it is possible to have housing and healthcare that meets their expectations.

When they get home, they will also realise that the "free" day at the Zoo has actually punched a $150 hole in the family budget, due to transport costs, buying some cold bottles of water, some hot chips and five ice-creams, and wonder how the free Zoo ticket addressed their cost of living issues.

The free Zoo tickets were a publicity stunt from a government that is out of ideas, and out of touch, and do nothing to address the problems that make the lives of Western Australians more difficult than they need to be.

  • The Uniparty Cost of Living Crisis

The Cost of Living crisis is out of control in WA, with persistent reports outlining how everyday Western Australians are seeing their standard of living being eroded. People are moving back home to live with parents, groceries and mortgage bills leave very little left to spend on discretionary items.

Inflation is out of control, housing is unavailable, services are degraded, infrastructure is delayed and over budget. No wonder we also have a mental health crisis and falling birth rates, we are doing it tough as a society compared to our recent past that most of us can still remember.

The major parties play a game together where they each blame each other for these failures, but they are equally to blame. Irresponsible spending, poor management and the wrong priorities have resulted in the situation we have now, and these are issues which have accumulated over decades.

Every 4 years or so, the major parties try to outdo themselves by promising to spend money to win votes, because for them gaining or retaining power is all that really matters, the repercussions of their short term decisions will not affect them, as they will be out of office by the time the chickens come home to roost.

In WA we see it with our Health system, which has been eroded over time to the point where we have children dying from preventable causes. We have the Metronet project massively over-budget, and it is projected to be a significant liability into the future. There are plans to transition to emissions free power, however the cost of doing so is not able to be explained and is likely to be immense for future generations.

There is a better way to manage our economy, and that is to have longer term plans and not to rush things through in order to boast about how much was achieved, or to virtue signal ourselves out of existence. We need to cut government spending on wasteful policies, we need to reduce immigration significantly and we need to push back on woke ideology which is the enemy of productivity and innovation.

That is why the people of WA should seriously consider voting for Pauline Hanson's One Nation in Western Australia, as we want the best for this state and this nation in the long term, and will point out and criticise short term self-serving actions by the Uniparty, to embarrass them into making the right decisions.

  • Energy

    Not Afraid of Coal

We believe access to affordable and reliable energy is the key to our way of life. We believe in a diverse energy mix, which may include nuclear power in the future. We believe we need to keep coal fired power stations running on local coal until we find an alternative baseload energy source.

Ultimately WA coal fired power accounts for a miniscule percentage of global emissions, and has provided the people of this state with safe, reliable and affordable energy for generations. At One Nation WA we would not be afraid to continue to rely on coal fired baseload power for many years into the future.

  • Cost of Living

    Reduce Government Pressure

We believe in ensuring we get more from our natural resources, and in freezing government fees and charges for a time to reduce the burden on families. To fund this, we believe in ensuring we receive fairer contributions from multinationals by reviewing some historical state agreements and by unlocking economic potential by reducing some regulations where appropriate. We will also support policies that reduce government competition with the private sector for resources to reduce inflationary pressures.

At One Nation WA, we will support measures that ensure people are supported when times are tough, but also ensure people have an incentive to work hard.

One charge that is a major impost on WA families is car registration, which has become painfully expensive. This is one charge that we would reduce, as having a car in WA means you can work, you can learn and you can participate in the community.
