In brief:
· Better pay and conditions for nurses and frontline staff
· Cut red tape and bureaucracy in the system
· Hold a WA health inquiry into waste and mismanagement
· Properly fund health by scrapping net zero
We support better pay and conditions for nurses, as well as better health services and infrastructure in WA, especially in the regions.
Everyone who has lived in WA for the past 10 years will tell you the health system has gone downhill. A lack of investment by the WA Labor government to keep up with significant population growth has resulted in a system that is bursting at the seams.
Children are having to wait years for routine operations affecting their development. Ambulances and hospital beds are ramped, people are waiting in emergency departments for hours, and it is hard to see a GP. Out of pocket costs to see a GP are averaging about $45.
It will be difficult to get things back on track, and One Nation WA will support measures that increase accessibility to our health system, including increased wages for frontline staff, and a reduction in bureaucracy.
In the short term One Nation would establish a health inquiry to identify waste, incompetence and worse in the WA Health department.
In the long term One Nation WA will have more money to spend on health when we scrap net zero and realise the true potential of this state.
