Strong NSW Team to Contest Election for One Nation
Pauline Hanson’s One Nation will field a strong team of candidates in New South Wales for the Federal election, with the party’s Senate ticket announced today along with its candidate for the key seat of Hunter.
Riverina businesswoman and farmer Katie McCulloch, and Lake Macquarie pastor Colin Grigg, will respectively stand as first and second on the NSW senate ticket while Singleton businessman Dale McNamara will contest the seat of Hunter.
One Nation leader Senator Pauline Hanson, in the Hunter region town of Branxton for the announcement, said the party would seek to build on the result it achieved in Hunter at the 2019 election.
“Many people in the Hunter are very concerned about the major parties sacrificing their coal jobs and industry on the altar of climate change,” Senator Hanson said. “That’s why there was such a strong result here for One Nation in 2019, when we received more than 21% of the primary vote. The people of Hunter understand that One Nation will fight for their jobs and their communities.
“After almost losing Hunter in 2019, Joel Fitzgibbon tried to convince his Labor colleagues to look after the coal industry, but failed to shift their obsession with climate change. He’s abandoned Labor, and voters in the Hunter should abandon Labor too. A Labor/Green government will reintroduce a carbon tax and destroy coal jobs in Australia.
“Our candidate Dale McNamara understands the importance of coal to Hunter better than most. He’s a self-made businessman who’s been employing locals for 25 years, and he knows what underpins the local economy. He’ll be a great representative focused on protecting coal jobs and giving younger people in the region a prosperous future.”
Senator Hanson said Kate McCulloch would be a strong advocate for farmers, regional NSW and Australia, while Colin Grigg would excel at protecting the fundamental principles of Australian democracy while promoting more direct involvement by Australians in their government.
“Kate has run a successful catering company for many years while also being a farmer, primarily sheep and cropping,” she said. “I know she’ll fight for more dams and other infrastructure projects to improve water security for farmers, such as the hybrid Bradfield Scheme, and to reduce red and green tape – we need to get out of farmers’ way and let them do what do best.
“Colin has been a pastor at Caves Beach for 20 years, and has also served on the Lake Macquarie City Council. He believes in participatory government and strongly backs our policy to have citizen-initiated referenda, so the Australian people can set the agenda instead of just politicians, lobbyists and the media.
“This is a great team we’re taking to the voters of the Hunter and New South Wales. We have only recently marked the 25th anniversary of the founding of One Nation. We’ve been part of the Australian political landscape for a whole generation now and for the first time, One Nation is fielding candidates in 149 electorates and a Senate ticket in every state at this Federal election.
“One Nation represents a genuine alternative to the major parties for Australians who are tired of politics as usual. One Nation puts Australia and Australians first.”
