Asbestos Dangers in Sydney School

The NSW upper house Education Committee does some important work.

Today we are holding a hearing into the reckless disregard of asbestos dangers in the buildings at Castle Hill High School, going back over a decade.

The background documents from SafeWork NSW (soon to publicly released) are frightening. Much scrutiny is needed.

The safety of staff and students in a school should never be compromised. There are 60 schools in NSW built a similar way to Castle Hill High in the 1960s and we need to ensure an asbestos contamination problem is not evident there.

I think people will be surprised by what is revealed today. You can watch proceedings on the parliamentary website live stream.
