China Set to Buy Private Island on Australia's Doorstep

The Australian government needs to purchase the privately owned Conflict Islands group of atolls near New Guinea in the Coral Sea before they are sold to the Chinese Government.

This group of tiny islands are strategic in terms of the defence of Australia.

Australia has been offered the island group, but they are also on offer to the Chinese government.

The Chinese could easily update the existing airstrip on one island and/or build one to accommodate long distance aircraft on the longest island.

This would pose a nightmare threat to Australia’s security with a potential Chinese airbase on Australia’s doorstep.

The Chinese have already developed a military base on redeveloped atoll land in the South China Sea., threatening Taiwan and nearby countries.

The Australian government needs to act now to prevent another defence fiasco.
