Finance Treasury and Costing
In brief:
· We will pay for increased services and wages by scrapping net zero, cutting waste and mining uranium
· Take a long term view beyond the 4 year election cycle
· Ensure the principles we were elected on are adopted by the public service when implementing policy detail
Savings from scrapping net zero are not able to be quantified, due to the costs of achieving net zero not being known to anyone. However, estimates of what net zero will cost exceed $50 billion just in terms of the “energy transition”, so that will go a long way towards more frontline staff and better services and infrastructure.
Reducing government waste, establishing a Uranium industry and reform of the public sector will also result in more money for education, health and justice.
We are committed to radical transparency when it comes to Government spending, and we will not treat everyday Western Australians as bottomless ATMs.
Policy costings are limited in that they do not reflect second order effects. A piece of legislation is not a direct cost, but may be a huge burden on the state. Getting rid of red tape isn’t reflected as a direct saving to the government budget, but will turbocharge the state’s economy.
The major parties have been providing “costings” for decades that aren’t worth the paper they are written on. It is clear the economic principles that have been implemented aren’t helping all West Australians. The problem isn’t the finer details of policy or specific costings, the problem has been decades of wrong principles being implemented by the major parties.
One Nation is prepared to take tough action to make sure we can deliver what really matters, taking a long term view beyond the 4 year election cycle.
