In brief:

·        Repeal WA Labor's new Firearms Act

·        Stop targeting law-abiding firearm owners

·        Properly resource and train police instead

·        Support responsible recreational and commercial owners

 

One Nation opposed WA Labor’s new Firearms Act and we believe it unfairly targets law abiding firearms owners based on ideology.

We do not think there was a problem with WA firearm culture or gun ownership, and recognise the importance of firearms for recreation, which often also assists conservation and animal welfare efforts across our vast state. We will stand up for all WA shooters, not only those in the country.

We believe the previous firearms act should have been enforced better by providing proper resourcing and training to front line officers, as well as the provision of a fit-for-purpose IT system to enable officers to do their job.

We will repeal the new legislation, and replace it with an act to achieve a fair and workable outcome for all law-abiding firearm owners in Western Australia that encourages and supports responsible recreational and commercial firearm owners in Western Australia.
