In brief:

·        Overturn the native forestry ban

·        Sustainable use of WA's timber resources

We oppose WA Labor's unwarranted and unnecessary native forestry ban and will seek to overturn it and allow for the continued sustainable use of our renewable native timber resources.

WA has immense timber resources, and if we continue to operate a sustainable best practice industry we can avoid supporting the importation of hardwood which increases pressure on native rainforests elsewhere in the world which do not consider the environment at all.

Having a local source of high-quality durable native timbers we will ensure that WA is better protected from global supply chain disruptions, and makes the most of the resources we are endowed with.

One Nation will implement a country-of-origin labelling scheme for wood to support the local timber industry, and will remove GST on timber for new homes.

Western Australia has the capacity to become self-sufficient in timber and wood products.
