In brief:

·        Build more dams for water security

·        Re-establish a standalone Department of Water

·        Stop using water charges as a hidden tax

·        Back water infrastructure for new housing

 

One Nation will support and encourage the construction of private and commercial dams to increase water capture and water security. The focus on prioritising environmental flows to the ocean over water retention for industry and agriculture needs to be reversed.

We will ensure the Department of Water is re-established as a separate entity that primarily has a state development focus, and support policy settings which enable the maximum retention of water from the very little rain we get.

One Nation WA will also ensure water charges to consumers are not used by Government as a hidden tax, and that our water and sewerage networks are well maintained.

We need reliable and affordable water for every household to be the priority, and not allow governments of the day to misuse Water Corp to drain more money from WA families.

One Nation also understands the importance of water infrastructure to enable new affordable housing, and will ensure Water Corporation and the Department of Water have a strong focus on enabling new developments to proceed.
