Climate
In brief:
· WA's emissions are a tiny fraction of the global total
· Adapt to change rather than wreck our economy
· Scrap net zero to lower power prices and grow industry
WA accounts for a negligible fraction of the total emissions globally, and we believe reducing our quality of life to achieve nothing in real terms is a losing proposition.
We also note that anthropological climate change is based on models that do not take into account other factors such as changes in solar cycles or solar activity, which are not completely understood by modern science. We think it is pretty obvious that the biggest impact on our climate is the sun, so this is just one example of why the science is never quite settled on things that are this complex.
We do not deny that the climate is subject to ongoing variability, but we think the best thing to do as a state is to adapt and prepare for any potential changes, without being constrained by cutting our tiny percentage of global emissions.
But by ending net zero emissions targets, One Nation will be able to deliver lower power prices, encourage value-adding industries to further maximise our mineral wealth and enable the diversification of our economy via safe, reliable and affordable power and fuel self-sufficiency.
Renewables have been given a blank cheque for the destruction of pristine environment and productive farmland. One Nation will champion genuine environmental protections to preserve WA’s natural beauty instead of pursuing arbitrary net-zero targets.
